"EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVE", HELLENIC NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION WITH A NEW PROJECT IN SERBIA AND KRALJEVO

PROMOTION OF PLURALISM

"European Perspective" Development Humanitarian Education Centre, Hellenic Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has just announced the beginning of the new programme titled: "Promotion of pluralism by strengthening NGOs and the civil society in Serbia", co-financed by the European Commission, European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights. The project has started with the assignment of contracts between the European Commission and the European Perspective (EP), as well as between the EP and the 13 Local NGO Partners which are going to implement the Project in Serbia: Millennium - Kragujevac, Centre for the Development of Democratic Society - Kragujevac, Roma Information Center-Kragujevac, European Movement in Smederevska Palanka - Smederevska Palanka, Kucevo Enthusiasts-Kucevo, Alternative Civic Parliament - Paracin, The Timok Club - Knjazevac, Forum NGO - Kraljevo, Forum for Civic Action-Forca - Pozega, Libergraf - Uzice, Education Centre - Leskovac, Forum for Civil Rights - Nis, Pirgos - Pirot.

The aim of the project is to raise the capacity and the competence of the civic actors and social groups active in local, regional and national level in Serbia and to assist them in order to have a constructive and effective role during the phase of transition that the whole country is going through. The target groups of the projects are the main actors of the civil society, including NGOs, local authorities and government, local and national media and the general public.

The main activities will be: the training of 30 trainers, 152 awareness meetings, 52 workshops on issues that will focus on the role of NGOs, partnership aspects among the civic society actors, media participation and awareness and their relation with NGOs, the establishment of a data bank, the publication of the newsletters, herewith the first issue is presented, in 3000 copies in 12 issues/editions of which the 1000 will be in English version, 180 broadcasting through radio and 180 broadcasts through TV. 

The overall objective of the project is the capacity building of organizations and institutions of Serbian civil society through seminars, trainings and transfer of know how, expertise and techniques concerning management skills, fundraising activities, etc. Apart from this,  the training activities of the project are going to make organisations and institutions, active in within the civil society, work more professionally and functionally. It is likely that through such an approach these institutions will acquire internal structures capable, to face external difficulties, well-educated and experienced personnel as well as the chance to face the reality and solve recent political problems in Serbia.

Through the activities of trainings, awareness meetings, workshops and seminars, this project will establish a good cooperation links and partnerships between local authorities and other social, economic and political actors (NGO, media, associations, institutions).Also, the aim of the project is promotion of independent media, including the fact that they are the one of  direct and the most important actors and target groups of the project (printed, audio-electronic and video-electronic, local, regional and national media). Media will not be only a target group of the project but the mean of its implementation as well, - it was announced by the "European Perspective", Hellenic N.G.O.

Only to remind - "European Perspective" through the Forum NGO in Kraljevo, has already implemented significant projects in the Region of Kraljevo that were well accepted and  efficiently realized. This gives us a guarantee for the new project of  this Hellenic Non-Governmental Organization.
