Educational Center from Leskovac
announced the project for civil society development

REGIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING

The project is implemented by European Perspective in partnership with Educational Center Leskovac, Centre for the Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms from Prishtina, and Institute for Sociological, Political and Juridical Research and Skopje United Nations’ Association from Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Last Thursday Educational Centre Leskovac held a press conference and announced the cooperation with the European Perspective, Development Humanitarian NGO from Greece, on the realization of the civil society development programme “Regional Capacity Building of Civil Society Organizations in Serbia, Kosovo and FYROM”. The project is co-financed by the European Commission – CARDS - Civil Society Development Programme and the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Department of International Development and Cooperation - Hellenic Aid. The duration of the project will be 15 months and in this period all civil society organizations and NGOs in Serbia & Montenegro and FYROM, existing and acting in these regions, as well as their capacities and assistance needed, will be identified. During the project, the cooperation with media, local authorities and entire public will be established, which should lead to the strengthening of competency of civil actors and active social groups. The most important part of the project is networking of the existing and new formal and informal networks of all these organizations. Establishment of three Regional Coordination Resource Centers, organization of tribunes and realization of TV broadcasts are planned. Trainings, regional training of trainers as well as follow up trainings will be organized for more efficient work on the project. The newsletter will be published, web presentation created with the focus on project implementation and results as well as database with the information relevant for the formal and informal networks of civil society organizations and other NGOs and regional conference with the participation of all the groups covered by the project.

-Through trainings and transfer of knowledge, we will provide the expertise and management skills, fundraising, public accountability, lobbing, strategic planning, networking. We will develop the cooperation between sectors and public relations based on the modern politics, standards and norms of the European Union. In the newsletters we will cover various topics, interesting for the countries in transitions, in order for all of us to work compatibly on the common progress in this region – Miss Radmila Radovic, Coordinator for the Civil Society Development Programmes of European Perspective with the office in Kragujevac, said at the press conference.

As it was heard in the Educational Centre in Leskovac, it is planned to form the network of school parliaments which will, together with the other organizations that already coordinate within the Civil Council Forum of the Municipality of Leskovac, create the common strategy for the development of civil society in the local community.
