TO PARTNERS’ NGOs IN SERBIA

Within the framework of the Democracy and Human Rights program, it is established on March 5th, 12 NGOs’ Resource Centres as well as 1 Central Resource Center. Above mentioned program titled: "Promotion of pluralism by strengthening NGOs and the civil society in Serbia" is co-financed by the European Commission - Initiative of Human Rights and Hellenic Aid and in accordance to the Protocol of Cooperation signed on 17/07/2002 between the EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVE, Hellenic NGO and 12 NGOs from Serbia.

The aim of the above mentioned Resource Centers is to raise the capacity and the competence of the civic actors and social groups active in local, regional and national level in Serbia and to assist them in order to have a constructive and effective role during the phase of transition that the whole country is going through.

For the establishment of these Resource Centers EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVE, after completion of quality and quantity control process, provided the following computer equipment and office furniture: PC with licensed software, laser printer, scanner, photocopier and set of office furniture consisting of a desk, chair, eight conference chairs and an office cupboard with shelves.

The main activities of the Resource Centres within the period of two years of the project's duration, include: training of about 30 people through two-day trainings, 152 meetings aimed at awareness building, 52 workshops referring to NGO regulations, partner relations between the civil society actors, participation and presence of the media and their relations with NGOs, producing newsletters printed in 3,000 copies and 12 issues (1000 out of which in English), 180 radio broadcasts and 180 television broadcasts.

This project mostly through the awareness and training activities, the workshops and seminars, wants to ensure that the relations between the local authorities and the rest of the social, economic and political actors (NGOs, MEDIA, Associations, institutions, etc.) will be strengthened and based on the values of good and fruitful partnership.

Likewise, this project, considering that one of the direct and significant target groups of the project is the Media of all types – printed, audio-electronic and video-electronic form – and at every level – local, regional or/and national, aims also at the promotion of independent and free press. The media will be not only a target group of the project but also a mean for the implementation of the activities of the project.
