During
the last week, it is established 12 NGOs’ Resource
Centres as well as 1 Central Resource Center in the
framework of the Democracy and Human Rights program titled
"Promotion of pluralism by strengthening NGOs and the
civil society in Serbia", co-financed by the European
Commission (Initiative of Human Rights) and Hellenic Aid
and in accordance to the Protocol of Cooperation signed on
17/07/2002 between the European Perspective, Hellenic NGO
and 12 NGOs from Serbia: NGO MillenniuM (Kragujevac), NGO
Center for the Development of Democratic Society
(Kragujevac), NGO European Movement in Smederevska Palanka
(Smed. Palanka), NGO Alternative Civic Parliament
(Paracin), NGO Kucevo Enthusiasts (Kucevo), NGO The Timok
Club (Knjazevac), NGO Forum NGO (Kraljevo), NGO Libergraf
(Uzice), NGO Forum for Civil Action (Pozega), NGO Forum
for Civil Rights (Nis), NGO Educational Center (Leskovac),
NGO Pirgos (Pirot).
The
aim of the Resource Center is to raise the capacity and
the competence of the civic actors and social groups
active in local,
regional and national level in Serbia and to assist
them in order to have a constructive and effective role
during the phase of transition that the whole country is
going through.
For
the establishment of the Resource Center European
Perspective, after completion of quality and quantity
control process, provided the computer equipment and
office furniture.
The
main activities of the Resource Centres within the period
of two years of the project's duration, include: training
of about 30 people through two-day trainings, 152 meetings
aimed at awareness building, 52 workshops (with NGO
Management topics), partner relations between the civil
society actors, participation and presence of the media
and their relations with NGOs, producing newsletters
printed in 3,000 copies and 12 issues (1000 out of which
in English), 180 radio broadcasts and 180 television
broadcasts. The role of the Resource Centres is to
communicate with the representative structures of the
civil society in Serbia, establish cooperation with the
same, be open to all new interested parties within the
local community and offer them support, transfer of
knowledge, experience and expertise as well as to create a
unified data base in the field of civil sector which will
benefit the entire society in Serbia.
The
project is aiming in the capacity building of the
organisations and institutions of the Serbian civil
society towards to a more professional organisation and
functioning of the institutions activate within the civil
society. Through professionalism these institutions will
acquire internal structures capable to face external
difficulties, well - educated and experienced personnel as
well the chance to raise a stronger and clearer voice
towards the solving of the socio-political problems Serbia
is facing.
This
project mostly through the training and lobby meetings
activities, awareness building meetings, workshops and
seminars, wants to ensure that the relations between the
local authorities and the rest of the social, economic and
political actors (NGOs, MEDIA, Associations, institutions,
etc.) will be strengthened and based on the values of good
and fruitful partnership.
Likewise, this project, considering that one of the direct
and significant target groups of the project is the Media
of all types – printed, audio-electronic and
video-electronic form – and at every level – local,
regional or/and national, aims also at the promotion of
independent and free press. The media will be not only a
target group of the project but also a mean for the
implementation of the activities of the project.
